Crowns in Pirate101 work in a similar manner to Wizard101 (and once purchased can be used across both games). With Pirate101 Crowns players can unlock individual chapters to advance their Pirate101 main story experience (users with a Pirate101 membership can access all game content).Players can earn free Pirate101 Crowns be referring friends and occasionally through game events.Pirate101 Crowns can also be used to Crown Shop to unlock a number of powerful benefits. These benefits include gold, pets, mounts, ships, houses, companions, clothing, weapons, elixirs and more.Pirate101 also offers a premium membership which gives you access to all the Pirate101 game worlds, larger backpack space, reset your skills for gold, post on the message boards, larger friends list and more.$10 prepaid game cards can be redeemed for a month of membership or 5000 Crowns with $20 prepaid cards doubling these figures.Pretty much the same goes to wizard101

 I personally recommend Membership until you are a high level I know it's tempting to get crowns but membership is cheap and helpful for leveling
